Drive by prayers

As l was praying over my husband and children tonight, I heard God say, "Stop rushing your prayer! Slow down! Why are you doing a drive-by prayer?" I know that message wasn't just for me. Sometimes our days are so full and nonstop that we get into the habit of rushing everything. It's time to slow down! It's time to get back to our quality time with God on a more intimate level. Slow down!
I was naming a handful of people during prayer and covering them, but I found myself just spitting their names out so fast! I wasn't even pronouncing their names all the way.
That's when He told me to slow down. I understand that sometimes we have to get a quick little prayer out, but let's go back to actually sitting and praying to Him for 30+ minutes. One night, I was praying for my family, and by the time I finished, my whole household was asleep. They were all snoring and knocked out. They slept so well that night! So enough of the drive-by prayers. Let's stop being in a hurry to say "Amen." God knows how our day went, but He also wants to hear it from our mouths and spend that time with us. It's like when your mom or dad asked you,
"How was your day?" after school, or when you get home from work and ask your husband or wife, "How was your day?" The Lord craves that same conversation! He cares too.
So the next time you pray, pour your heart out!
He's not in a hurry for you to get up and go to your next task. I pray this helps someone!
